Gifting

The Gifting option is used to set up a product so that it can be purchased as a gift by shoppers on your store.

Note: Gifting cannot be used on your store until your store has been configured to display the gifting fields in the shopping cart of checkout pages.

How Gifting Works

Once gifting is set up for your store (gifting is enabled via a site setting) you will then see the Gifting option appear when you create or edit a product. If you select that setting, then enable the gifting option, and finally deploy the product, shoppers will be able to purchase the product as a gift on your store.

Gift orders can only be placed when all products in the order are set up as gifts and the order itself can only be gifted to one person/address. To place a gift order, shoppers simply select a check box that appears during checkout. They will be prompted to enter the recipient information such as name, address, email address, and so on. When the order is submitted both the recipient and the purchaser will receive the appropriate Order Confirmation emails, however the recipient’s email will not include any pricing information and may have language to reflect the fact that the order was purchased as a gift.

Refunds and Returns

Orders that are placed as gifts can be refunded or returned as any other order placed on your store. If a refund or return occurs, either the recipient or the purchaser will receive appropriate emails indicating if any action is needed on their part to complete or process the return or refund.

Enabling the Gifting Option

The Gifting option doesn't have any attributes that you set. The Gifting option is simply a setting that you enable or disable for a product.
