Creating Price Lists
Price lists are used to define how you want product prices to be converted into other currencies for different locales. To learn more about price lists and pricing, see About Price Lists and Pricing.
- On the Catalog menu, select Pricing, and click Create Price List. The Create Price List page appears.
- In the Name field, enter the name for the price list. The name is used for identification purposes and is not seen by shoppers on your site.
- From the Type list, select the price list type. Each catalog on your site can have only one price list of each type. Most sites will only have one catalog but you may have more depending on your business model and need.
- From the Catalog list, select the catalog you want to associate with the price list.
- From the Default Currency list, select the currency you want to use as the default for the price list. If the currency you want to select isn't listed it means that currency is not set up as a supported currency for your site.
- In the Start Date field, enter a start date for your price list. The start date represents the date when the price list becomes effective. By default, the current date is specified as the start date. You can also specify a start time by making the appropriate choices from the adjacent lists, but this is not required.
- If desired, enter an End Date for the price list. This represents the date when the price list expires. If do not
specify an end date, the price list will remain effective until you choose to retire it. You can also specify a end time by making the appropriate choices from the adjacent lists.
- Select the Prices Include Value Added Tax (VAT) check box if you will include VAT charges in the prices you enter for products that will be associated with this price list. Products are associated to a price list because of the catalog they belong to (price lists are associated to catalogs).
- When you are done, click Save. The Price List Summary page appears.
- To define how pricing for currencies other than the default are calculated if a price hasn't been set in that currency, in the Currency Conversion area, select how you want pricing for each currency to be converted:
- Select Float Rate if you want the conversion to be done based on the floating conversion rate of the default currency to the supported currency.
- Select Fixed Rate if you want to define a fixed rate used every time a price is converted from the default currency to the supported currency.
- When you are done, click Save.
- To set pricing:
- In the Currencies area, from the Supported Currencies list, a currency for which you want to enter pricing and click Edit. The Edit Price List Currency page appears.
- In the Price List area, enter or edit the pricing that appears for that currency. If you do not enter a price for a product the pricing for that currency will be calculated using the price set for the product in the default currency using the conversion method you selected in a previous step.
- If you want to allow a product's price to be set as zero ($0), select the Zero Price check box. Zero prices are often used with giveaways or free items.
- Use the Currency list to change the currency of the prices you are viewing and repeat the steps above as needed to set pricing for every supported currency in the price list.
- When you are done setting pricing, click Save to return to the Price List Summary page.
- When you are done working with the price list, click Done on the Price List Summary page.
