The Free Extension option is used to define the extra amount of time added to the subscription time period for which shoppers are not charged. For example, if your subscription period is one year and you set a free extension of one week, the total of subscription period (how long the shopper gets the subscription) is actually one year + one week.
A free extension for a product is added to the subscription after it has expired and before it is renewed. Free extensions are often used as an incentive to buy, for example "buy one year, get one month free."
Tip: The free extension you set for a product using the option in the example below is different from the free extension that is used with the Customer Service Save feature. The Customer Service Save feature is triggered when a shopper calls Customer Service to cancel their subscription and is meant to encourage the shopper not to cancel by offering them a free extension if they keep their subscription active.
